Volunteer Day at the Redbarn Food Forest

The grape arbour went up this morning, prior to the rain. Helpful volunteers Nick and Jeff from Algonquin College, and resident food foresters Philippe and John flexed their muscles under Shelley’s supervision.

The main parts of trellis was up in no time at all and then the rains delayed the rest of the work until sunnier weather.

Many handmade stakes were placed near trees for protection and visibility.

The trees are in bloom, as this Saskatoon Berry shows off.

Kelp meal, top dressing and mulch were added to most of the trees.

An initial map of the site has begun so you can easily identify trees.

There is lots more to do, so hope to see you at the next volunteer day.
