Despite the risk of rain and the fact that there were only 3 of us, progress continues! We convened at the #redbarnfoodforest for some heavy work. I should come clean and mention that Philippe and Ryan did most of the big ticket items, moving a lot of rocks, creating raised beds for the grapevines under the (not-quite-completed) arbour, planting and mulching grapes.
Additionally, we planted some perennial herbs for the pollinators (lemon monarda, a.k.a. bee balm, wild thyme and wormwood), along with a bed of horseradish!
We also planted out a wonderful donation of some super hot peppers from another supporter of the community food forest (thanks Christopher!), and some mustard and chard seeds to see how they’d do.
